Title | MEMBRANE ARRANGEMENT FOR MEMBER BUCKLING OF DOUBLE-LAYER LATTICED STRUCTURES |
Author | Yoshiya Taniguchi,Toshitsugu Saka,Tooru Maehata |
Summary | As a new structural system for spatial structuresEa hybrid structure consisting of membrane and space frames was already presented. In this caseEmembrane as well as latticed members is taken into account as a structural element and play a role in restraining the member bucklingEto increase the buckling strength of the whole structure. The membrane materials used in spatial structures are usually PTFT coated glass fiber fabrics being orthotropic. Then in this paperEthe effect of membrane arrangement on the elastic buckling load and buckling mode is numerically investigated for double-layer grids of two types. The membrane arrangement of 5types is adopted for each grid. As a resultEthe buckling mode can be changed by some membrane arrangements and the buckling strength increase in the range of 54-98% higher than the double-layer grids without membrane. |
