Title | Numerical Analysis of Cable Reinforced Membrane Structures Using Foldable Finite Elements |
Author | Haruhiko SAKAI,Eizaburou TACHIBANA |
Summary | In this paperEwe introduce a new idea of foldable finite elements in order to solve the behavior of cable reinforced membrane structures (CRMS). By using this element we composed a finite element code which is developed to treat CRMS. Contact problemsEslide problemsElarge deformation problemsEand friction problems (which may be required to analyze CRMS) can be treated by this method. In each incremental stepEthe energy minimization procedure is adopted instead of equilibrium equations. In order to assure this methodEthree examples are calculated. One of those models is investigated by the experimental result. And it appeared that this method is useful enough to analyze CRMS and is considerable close to the experimental results. |
